Sure, you know the name.  Over 95% of the consumers in America recognize the leading frozen dessert brand.  But Schwan’s/Mrs. Smith’s is much more than apple pies.  One of the areas that we excel in is in the production of Foil Products. 

From 1964 until today, Mrs. Smith’s has been manufacturing our own pie pans.  It seems only logical since we are the largest single user of pie pans in the world.  But don’t let the sweet taste of apples fool you.  Schwan’s Global Supply Chain is a lot more.  Stamping over 14 million pounds of aluminum each year, Schwan’s not only makes disposable food packaging, they also make Frozen Dessert Dispensers for the Food Service Industry.  A combination of technical expertise and efficient low cost production has allowed Schwan’s Global Supply Chain to grow into a competitive supplier of foil food packaging in the U.S.A. 

You may not know us for our packaging…but in 1918 no one had ever heard of Mrs. Smith’s Pumpkin Pie either.

Why Schwan’s packaging?  Precision stamping.  That’s an easy statement to make, but not so easy to do.  It takes commitment to quality, dedication to maintaining dies and presses, and an understanding of the cost of doing business.

Consequently, we have the most modern machine shop in the foil industry in our plant.  This allows us the ability to tool our own dies for quick turnaround, but even more importantly we keep our dies in tiptop shape to create sharp, clean, burr-free stampings.
