Norandal is a subsidiary of Falconbridge, a leading Canadian copper and nickel company with investments in fully integrated zinc and aluminum assets.

Falconbridge constructed an innovative primary aluminum smelter in Missouri in the early 1970s and subsequently conceived Norandal as part of a downstream integration strategy. After acquiring the Huntingdon, Tennessee foil plant of R.J. Archer in 1979, Norandal went on ten years later to purchase foil mills in Salisbury, North Carolina and Newport, Arkansas from National Aluminum.

In 2001, Norandal opened a $238 million state of the art, ultra modern foil plant at the Huntington site. Currently, Norandal’s annual sales approach 440 million pounds.

Norandal’s four plants produce foil and light sheet ranging in gauge from .00025” to .08” and up to 86” in width. In addition to the semi rigid container market, Norandal is a leading supplier of finstock for use in residential, commercial, and automotive air conditioners. Other important markets served by Norandal include light gauge converter foil for packaging applications and conductor strip used in electrical transformers.
