Aleris Light Gauge Products

Aleris Light Gauge Product’s manufacturing facility is in Clayton New Jersey, which was opened in 1970. This operation was originally conceived as a specialized facility for the manufacture of aluminum foil container stock for the owners at that time, American Home Products. Over the years, ownership has transitioned from Tenneco and Pactiv, until the acquisition of the business by Aleris International in May 2007. The transformation from being an independent re-roller of aluminum foil to being part of an integrated aluminum rolling company has brought the company into the mainstream of the aluminum industry in North America.

Throughout its history, the business has maintained its focus on aluminum container foil, but has developed other foil and sheet products over time with the notable additions of finstock for automotive and HVAC applications, among many others.

The facility in New Jersey has the ability to roll, anneal and slit aluminum alloy foil and sheet in gauge ranges from .020” to .002” in widths between 50” and 0.5”. Aleris’ capabilities also include the ability to provide epoxy and vinyl coated coil products. These coatings greatly enhance the product characteristics of Aluminum in the areas of corrosion resistance, heat sealing and also cosmetic appearance.
